Vernon York / WA4NOH obituary

Vernon York, 84, Adair County, KY (1937-2021)

Vernon Buford York, age 84, of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, February 20 2021 at T.J. Sampson Hospital.

He was an avid gardener, amateur radio operator WA4N0H and spent many years volunteering for the rescue squad and Red Cross. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force. On February 8, he and his wife Helen Claycomb York who survives him celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary.

He is also survived by:

Two Daughters: Rhonda Holt (Dane) of Clovis NM; and Laverne Blair (Steve) of Columbia KY

One Son, Douglas York (Jacquelyn) of Columbia KY

A Sister, Mazelle Binnette, of Ocala, FL

He is survived by four grandchildren – Jonathan Burton, Kristina Holt, Amanda Holt and Dillon York.

He was born on Thursday, February 04, 1937, in Windsor, Kentucky, the son of Durella Turner York and Ernest York who preceded him in death. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by, a brother Verlman York, and a sister Arietta York.

Graveside services will be private at Wilkerson Cemetery Tuesday, February 23 2021. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Record testing session January 29th, 2021

The CKARC had a record testing session last night with 14 testing for the first time or upgrading. A special thanks to Mike Keltner/K4MWK for all his site prep work and Brad Scalos/AI4E for conducting this event. Also, thanks to all the VE’s assisting including Mike Keltner/K4MWK, Noel Warf/WI4B, Tracy McCarol/NM4P, Mark Hutchinson/KB4NW, Jimmy Cox/K4COX, and Lloyd Curry/NA4D.

SK David Moss K2DEM 12/21/2020

This was posted on the CKARC FB page, but I neglected to post on our website.  My apologies.

 

Obituary

Rev. David Moss age 64 of Columbia, KY went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. David was born on January 02, 1956 to Guy and Jenny Moss.  In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and a special cousin Dale Bennett.  David was an avid UK fan. He was one of the 1969-1970 first football teams of Adair County High School. He was a member of amateur radio with a call sign of K2DEM, and was the Friday night Net Control Operator for the Central Kentucky Amateur Radio Club.

Survivors Include:

His wife of 43 years, Kathy Moss of Columbia, KY

One Brother- Tom Moss(Terry) of Lexington

Two Nieces- Megan Salathe(Scott) of Louisville and Sara Moss of Austin, TX

A special cousin, Jimmy Harper and several other cousins and a host of friends survive

Funeral Service:

Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 30th from 1 P.M. until the service time at 2 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home
